
India’s benchmark indexes opened lower on Thursday after US President Donald Trump slapped a 26 per cent reciprocal tariff on imports from New Delhi.
The Nifty 50 was down 0.60 per cent at 23,192.40 as of 9:18 am, while the BSE Sensex fell 0.61 per cent to 76,153.68.
Trump’s tariff announcement on India on Wednesday was part of his plan to impose a 10 per cent baseline tariff on all trade partners from April 5, with higher duties on dozens of other countries, including 34 per cent on China from April 9.
