
Vakola Police in Mumbai have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly killing his teenage daughter and critically injuring his wife in their house in Santacruz (East).
The accused, identified as Suleman Razzak Kujra, has been charged with murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the police, the incident took place on Wednesday, when the accused allegedly attacked his 35-year-old wife, identified as Naseema, and their daughter Asgari (14), with a sharp object following an argument. The child`s body was later discovered from their residence in Kalina.
Following the incident, the Vakola Police registered a case and began a search for the accused. It was discovered during the investigation that Kujra went into hiding and switched off his mobile phone to avoid detection.
Based on technical evidence and local intelligence, the police traced the accused to Gaya in Bihar, where he was found staying with a relative. A police team was sent to Bihar, and the accused was taken into custody and brought back to Mumbai.
Further investigation is underway.
Senior Police Inspector Deshmukh Bhajani, Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Rakesh Gaur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 8) Pushpak Mundhe, and other officers supervised the investigation.
The accused has been remanded in police custody for further interrogation.
