Suspended Punjagutta inspector Durga Rao, who had been on the run for nearly a week, has finally been apprehended in Guntakal, Andhra Pradesh. Rao is a key suspect in an accident case allegedly involving Mohammed Raheel Aamir, the son of former BRS Bodhan MLA Shakeel Ahmed.

Rao’s disappearance since January 29 had sparked a frantic search effort, with multiple teams deployed to trace his whereabouts. The situation escalated when, on January 31, Commissioner of Police K. Sreenivasa Reddy took the unprecedented step of transferring the entire staff of the Punjagutta police station to the police headquarters.

Despite efforts to evade capture, including filing a petition for anticipatory bail in the High Court, Rao’s luck ran out when law enforcement received a crucial tip-off leading to his detention in Guntakal, Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh.
