British luxury automaker Rolls-Royce has once again made history with the unveiling of its latest masterpiece, the Spectre, marking a monumental leap into the electric vehicle (EV) era for the ultra-luxury car industry. In a grand ceremony held in Chennai, South India, the illustrious marque introduced Spectre to the South Indian market, following its global debut in the UK three months prior.

The Spectre, a visually stunning two-door fastback, represents Rolls-Royce’s commitment to an all-electric future, with plans to transition its entire fleet to electric power by 2030. With its debut, Spectre becomes the first of a new class of EVs from the Goodwood, England-based manufacturer, embodying the pinnacle of luxury, innovation, and sustainability.

Measuring 5,475 mm in length and boasting a wheelbase of 3,210 mm, the Spectre offers generous space and impeccable design, continuing the legacy of craftsmanship synonymous with Rolls-Royce. Underneath its opulent exterior lies a powerful electric powertrain, delivering 430kW (584 hp) of power and 900Nm of torque, propelling the Spectre from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

“The unveiling of Spectre marks the dawn of a new era for Rolls-Royce, as we pioneer the electrification of ultra-luxury vehicles,” remarked Hal Serudin, Rolls-Royce’s Corporate Communications Manager for Asia Pacific, during the launch event.

At the heart of Spectre’s performance lies its fully electric powertrain, featuring dual synchronous motors—a front motor producing 190kW/365 Nm and a rear motor delivering 360kW/710 Nm. The car’s innovative ‘recuperative braking’ feature allows for a seamless driving experience, enhancing both efficiency and range by converting kinetic energy into electrical energy during braking.

Powered by a 102 kWh lithium-ion battery, the Spectre boasts an impressive range of 530 km on a single charge. Charging the vehicle from 10% to 80% capacity takes approximately 34 minutes with a 195kW DC fast charger, offering convenience and flexibility to its discerning owners.
