The arrested individuals were identified as Prashant Sureshchand Rajoria, also known as Radhebhai (24), and Harsh Subhashchand Kashyap (19). Acting on a tip-off from a confidential informant, the Mumbai Crime Branch’s Unit 10 conducted a meticulously planned operation on Makwana Road in the Marol area of Andheri (East).
An official from Crime Branch Unit 10 disclosed, “We received information that the suspects were arriving in Andheri (East) for a firearm transaction. Acting swiftly, we set up a trap at the specified location based on the tip-off.”
The suspects, each carrying a laptop bag, were observed exhibiting suspicious behavior upon arrival. The Crime Branch officials promptly intervened and apprehended both individuals. A subsequent search of their bags led to the seizure of four pistols, eight live cartridges, and two empty magazines.
The confiscated arms and ammunition have an estimated value of approximately Rs 2.14 lakh, with the four pistols alone valued at Rs 2 lakh. A senior officer from Crime Branch Unit 10 stated, “We are actively investigating the case and remain optimistic about making more arrests in the near future.”
An FIR has been registered at the MIDC police station under sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act, along with relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act. The successful operation underscores the Mumbai Crime Branch’s commitment to curbing illegal arms trade in the city, ensuring the safety and security of its residents.
