Residents in several areas of Hyderabad are set to experience a 24-hour water supply disruption from 6 am on January 20 to 6 am on January 21, as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) undertakes crucial repair works at Chandrayanagutta.

This marks the second such disruption in January, following a previous incident at the beginning of the month. The repair work is aimed at addressing a significant leakage issue in the pipeline, necessitating the temporary suspension of water supply to ensure effective and timely repairs.

The affected areas include Misrigunj, Bahadurpura, Kishan Bagh, Jahanuma, Mughal Pura, and Darulshifa. Residents in these localities are advised to make necessary arrangements and store adequate water to tide over the 24-hour disruption period.

During the earlier disruption on January 3, several parts of Hyderabad experienced water supply issues due to junction works on the pipeline at Santosh Nagar. Areas affected at that time included Mir Alam, Santosh Nagar, Vinay Nagar, Saidabad, Chanchalguda, Yakuthpura, Madannapet, Riyasat Nagar, Aliabad, Boggula Kunta, Afzalgunj in the Old City, and Narayanguda, Adikmet, Shivam Road, Nallakunta, Chilukalguda, and Dilsukhnagar.

In a press release, the HMWSSB clarified that the disruptions were part of the ongoing Krishna Drinking Water Supply Phase-1 project. The board acknowledged the inconvenience caused to residents and assured them that the repair works were essential to maintain the integrity and efficiency of the water supply system.

Residents are urged to cooperate with the HMWSSB and adhere to any guidelines provided during the water supply disruption. The board has also assured that efforts will be made to complete the repair works promptly and minimize any further inconvenience to the affected areas.

The HMWSSB recommends that residents stay updated on further developments through official channels and local announcements. The board apologizes for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the residents during this essential maintenance period.
